Cool ride(s) of the week.28

This week, hubby and I checked out the 2011 Houston Auto Show. First up is the new Fiat 500, it's getting a lot of buzz. Pretty cute!
It has a nice dashboard, too:
Here's the Infiniti G coupe, quite a hot rod:
The Infiniti has a dash that any middle-aged person could love - bright and easy-to-read.
I like the Scion displays, they're kind of edgy and feature cool after-market paint jobs. How would you like to roll to the grocery store in this?

We checked out the Ford display, mostly trucks & drab cars, but here's a cool old Mustang that never needs a tune-up:
On to the dream cars that I wouldn't buy, even if I could afford one. Here's a slammin' Audi R8 Spyder:
How about this Lotus, with room for 4:
Here's a "concept" Chevy Corvette. There used to be more concept cars at the auto show, not so much anymore.

Get out and wash your car this weekend!

So, where ARE the rosas?

We named our blog "building our new jardin de rosas" which means, building our new rose garden. We live on Rose Street, yadda yadda. We do have roses, they're in the back yard. They're not looking their best right now, but come on, it's January:
This one isn't from our yard, but it's a beauty, isn't it? Someday. . .
Meanwhile, it was really nice out last weekend, so I raked the yard and trimmed some of these ornamental grassy things. Here are the ones I didn't trim yet: Here are the ones I gave a haircut. They'll grow back.
The auto show is in Houston this week, and we're going tomorrow night. Which means - a whole bunch of new Cool Rides! Stay tuned for the new Fiat 500.

Sidewalk to Nowhere: Fixed

I came home from work one evening this week, and there was a small pickup truck parked in front of the house. Two workers were shoveling wet concrete out of the bed of the truck and filling in our sidewalk. They left just as it was getting dark. Here's the finished job:
Yesterday, some landscapers came to fix the sod and smooth out the bumpy places caused by all the digging. Check it out, that new concrete is a pretty good match:
We're glad our new home contract included a warranty. We haven't paid for any of this work. Whew! So, let's enjoy some nice images of nature. Here's the sunset on the evening the sidewalk was repaired:
Here are some pix of our front garden, these are oak leaf hydrangeas. They're turning pretty colors:
It rained this morning. Once it dries out, we'll need to rake up or blow out all those pesky oak leaves on the ground.
These are purple coneflowers, aka echinacea. Nice to have something blooming on January 9. Happy New Year, everyone!
