Countertops!

Big blog post today. We haven't been to the house in a few days. The remnants of Hurricane Alex brought a lot of rain, and when it rains in Houston, it floods. My 3 mile commute from downtown to the apartment took about 40 minutes yesterday - barf. Anyway, this morning I went over to see what's going on. Countertops have gone in. Here's a shot of the kitchen. They have left on the protective plastic, the granite really isn't an ugly gray color.

Here's a better picture of the granite. It's called Tan Brown. Whoever thought up that name didn't have their interior design mojo working. I think Copper Canyon is a nice name, so I'll call it that.

Here is one of the sinks in the master bath, we chose a different granite in there. I can't remember what it's called. How about Speckled Stone.

Here is one of the upstairs bathrooms, they have silestone countertops. It's nice and neutral, anything will go with it.

Turning to the guts of the house, I climbed up into the "big" attic today (we have two, another is over the garage - awesome). At our old house, the roofline had been raised by the previous owner, and they left the old roof joists in place, then added a new set. That attic was always a challenge to get around it, we had to crawl around this joist, over that one, under the next one. Imagine my surprise and delight when I got to the top of the ladder and stood up straight. Well, here's a pic, but don't look at it too long - middle aged ladies who don't have their war paint on look, uhhhh, tired.
